📜 The small print, in plain English
Legal & privacy
Everything you should know before you order from PrintPals: who we are, how ordering and payment work, delivery fees, returns and warranty, toy safety, and how we look after your personal information. Last updated 16 October 2026.
1. Who you are buying from
South Africa's Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA, section 43) asks every online seller to tell you clearly who they are and how a sale works. Here it is.
- Legal name and status
- Marko Werkman, sole proprietor trading as PrintPals. PrintPals is not a registered company and is not registered for VAT.
- Physical address
- [street address], Potchefstroom 2531, North West, South Africa
- +27 71 600 7823 (071 600 7823 from a South African number)
- Website
- printpals.netlify.app
- What we sell
- 3D-printed toys for children aged 3 to 14, printed to order in PLA from designs by independent makers. Each product page describes the toy, its recommended age and the designer.
- Prices
- All prices are in South African Rand and are the full price of the toy. We are not VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add. The delivery fee for the option you choose is shown in your basket and in the order request before you send it, so the total is never a surprise.
- Payment methods
- PayShap, EFT, a secure card payment link, or cash when you collect in Potchefstroom. Details in section 2.
- Lead time and delivery
- Most toys are ready in 2 to 3 days. Delivery adds about 1 to 4 working days, depending on the option. Details in sections 2 and 3.
- Your record of the order
- Your order request goes out from your own WhatsApp or email, and our confirmation comes back the same way, so you always have a copy of the whole conversation. Please keep it: it is your proof of purchase.
- Checking before you send
- You can change quantities, colours and the delivery option in your basket as many times as you like before you send the request. Nothing is final until we have confirmed the total and you have paid.
- Cancellations, returns and warranty
- See section 4.
- Payment security and privacy
- No payment is taken on this website and we never ask for card details on WhatsApp or email. See sections 2 and 6.
2. Ordering and payment
- Send an order request. Add toys to your basket, pick colours and a delivery option, and send the request by WhatsApp or email. This is a request, not a binding order yet, and nothing is charged.
- We confirm. Usually within a day we reply with the total in Rand, delivery included, and the date your toys will be ready. If something cannot be printed as asked, we say so and suggest an alternative.
- You pay. Pay by PayShap or EFT to the details we send you, using the reference we give you, or ask for a secure card payment link and pay with any debit or credit card. Cash is fine when you collect in Potch. We do not offer cash on delivery, and we never ask for card numbers or PINs over WhatsApp or email.
- We print. Printing starts as soon as the payment reflects. Most toys are ready in 2 to 3 days. Large sets, bulk orders and custom work can take longer, and we confirm the date before you pay.
- Collect or receive. We message you when your order is ready to collect, or send the tracking details when it ships. Delivery times are in section 3.
If we cannot get your order to you within 30 days of payment and you have not agreed to a longer time, you can cancel for a full refund. Sales are concluded in Potchefstroom and South African law applies.
3. Delivery options and fees
Choose one of these in your basket. The fee is added to your total before you send the request.
| Option | Fee | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Collect in Potchefstroom | Free | As soon as it is ready. We agree a time on WhatsApp. |
| Local delivery in Potchefstroom | R35 | Usually the day it is ready, or the next day. |
| Pudo locker (The Courier Guy), anywhere in SA | R60 | About 1 to 2 working days to Gauteng, 2 to 4 elsewhere. |
| Courier to your door, anywhere in SA | R110 | About 2 to 4 working days. Outlying areas can take longer. |
- Find your nearest locker at thecourierguy.co.za/store-locator and give us the locker name with your order.
- We send the tracking number as soon as the parcel is booked, and the locker SMSes you a collection code when it arrives.
- Delivery times are the courier's estimates, counted from the day the parcel is handed over, not the day you order.
- If a parcel arrives damaged or goes missing, tell us and we sort it out with the courier. See section 4.
Fees are correct as of 16 October 2026 and match the options in the basket. If the courier changes its prices we update the basket and this page together.
4. Cancellations, returns and warranty
Changing your mind
Every toy is printed to order in the colours you choose, often with a name on it. Under section 44 of ECTA the 7-day cooling-off right for online purchases does not apply to goods made to your specification or personalised for you, so once we have started printing we cannot cancel or take back a toy because you changed your mind.
- Before printing starts: just message us. We cancel and refund in full, no questions asked.
- After printing has started: the order stands. If you are unsure about a colour or size, ask us before you pay and we will help you choose.
- Ready-made stock: if we ever sell an item that is not printed to order, you can return it within 7 days of receiving it for a full refund within 30 days. You pay only the cost of sending it back.
Six-month warranty
The Consumer Protection Act gives you a 6-month warranty on everything we sell, and we stand by it. If a toy is faulty, breaks during normal play, or is not what we described, you may choose a repair, a replacement or a refund at any time within 6 months of receiving it, and we cover the cost of getting it back to us.
The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, from heat (a hot car, a dishwasher, direct sun), or from deliberate breaking, and it does not cover the ordinary wear that comes with being well loved.
Arrived damaged or wrong?
Please send us a photo on WhatsApp within 7 days of receiving the parcel, and keep the packaging until we have looked, so that we can claim from the courier. We replace the toy or refund you, whichever you prefer, and we handle the courier claim ourselves.
Refunds
Refunds go back the way you paid, normally within a few days and never later than 30 days.
Nothing on this page takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or ECTA.
5. Toy safety
- What they are made of. We print in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic made from corn starch. The filament we use is made without BPA, phthalates or plasticisers, and the manufacturer's EN 71-3 and RoHS reports are on file. We do not claim our toys are food-safe or certified, and they are not teethers or cups.
- Before play. Every print is checked for sharp edges and loose parts before it leaves us. Give articulated joints a gentle tug at home too, and check now and then as the toy gets older.
- During play. We recommend adult supervision for younger children. If a piece breaks off, stop using the toy and message us: it is covered by the warranty.
- Keep it cool. PLA softens above about 55 °C. Keep toys out of hot cars, dishwashers, direct sun on a windowsill and hot water. Wash with cool soapy water.
If you ever have a safety concern about one of our toys, please tell us on WhatsApp straight away so that we can check the design and let other parents know.
6. Privacy notice (POPIA)
PrintPals follows the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). The responsible party and information officer is Marko Werkman, trading as PrintPals, and the contact details are in section 1. Here is what we do with your information, in plain English.
What we collect, and when
- When you send an order request or a custom quote request by WhatsApp or email: your name, your phone number or email address, your delivery address or locker name, what you ordered and in which colours, and any notes you add, such as a child's name to print on a toy.
- When you pay: the payment reference and the name on the payment. We never see or store card numbers; card payments go through the payment provider's own secure page.
- We ask for a parent's or guardian's contact details, not a child's. The only things we need about a child are a first name if you want it printed on a toy, and the age range so we can suggest a suitable toy.
This website
- This site has no accounts, no tracking cookies and no analytics. Your basket is saved in your own browser only, and nothing is sent to us until you choose to send an order request.
- The site is hosted by Netlify, and its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Like any web host, these services see your IP address when the page loads and may keep standard server logs for security.
Why we use it
To confirm and fulfil your order, to print and deliver it, to help with warranty and safety questions afterwards, and to keep the sales records that SARS requires. That is all. We do not send marketing messages unless you ask for them, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
Only what is needed, and only with who needs it. Your name, phone number and address or locker name go to The Courier Guy so that they can deliver and send you a collection code. The payment provider sees your name when you pay by card link. We never sell, rent or share your details with anyone else, and we do not use them for advertising.
How long we keep it
Order records (who bought what, when, and what was paid) are kept for 5 years because tax law requires it. WhatsApp chats and emails are deleted once they are no longer needed for your order or a warranty claim, and sooner if you ask.
Keeping it safe
Your details are kept on one phone and one email account, both locked and secured, and nothing is stored on this website.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will, unless the law says we must keep it (like the 5-year tax records). Message us on WhatsApp or email and we reply within a few days. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za. Our PAIA manual is available on request by email.
